Worcester Theatres’ Sleeping Beauty pantomime hit record-breaking numbers with 20,000 theatregoers attending the production over the 5-week season, marking a major milestone for the charity.
The 32-day production featured 67 shows and 27 cast members, alongside 1,005 dance routines, 938 musical numbers, 1,407 jokes told by Fester the Jester, 268 pots of face and body glitter used by the cast, 603 evil laughs from Carabosse, 670 costume changes by Nurse Dottie Dettol, and 335 children joining the stage to sing the chorus of Witch Doctor.
Worcester Theatres would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket to support the Sleeping Beauty pantomime, produced by the Worcester Repertory Company. The support helps encourage local theatre and enables Worcester Theatres to continue producing wonderful performances that bring festive cheer to audiences across Worcester.
Sarah-Jane Morgan, Chief Executive & Artistic Director at Worcester Theatres and Executive Producer of Sleeping Beauty said, “Sleeping Beauty was an absolute dream to present at the Swan Theatre this year! Having extended the run to 67 performances across five weeks this year we still had to add one more performance to accommodate another school as the demand has been so large. Many performances have had limited availability, with lots more having sold out across the run. In total we have welcomed nearly 20,000 people this festive season, which has broken all historic company box office records once again.
"With a fistful of five-star reviews and audience after audience member saying it was the best pantomime they have ever seen at the Swan Theatre, I couldn’t be prouder of the production, creatives, cast and our team here at the theatre who all work so hard to make the magic of pantomime accessible for so many children, families and groups every year.”
Ian Good, Dame and Director of the Sleeping Beauty pantomime said, “I’m so proud of another record-breaking season of the Worcester Repertory Company pantomime Sleeping Beauty. It’s so wonderful to hear we have played to such a large audience.”
Building on the success of Sleeping Beauty, Worcester Theatres are already planning next year’s pantomime, Robin Hood.
Tickets for the 2026-2027 pantomime Robin Hood are now available via the Worcester Theatres website. Tickets can also be purchased in person from the Box Office at Huntingdon Hall or by telephone on 01905 611427.
