Immerse yourself in history this summer at Sudeley Castle & Gardens. Whether you’re learning how to become a Knight or chatting to a Royal reenactor, watching birds soar around the grounds or enjoying an open air performance, Sudeley has plenty to intrigue, entice and entertain.

On select dates throughout July and August, Walks with Hawks return to the grounds to share the thrill of seeing an exceptional variety of birds of prey, from eagles to owls, in Falconry at Sudeley.

As part of the experience, you'll observe the birds’ individual characteristics, breath-taking acrobatic skills and see first hand the wonderful partnership that exists between falconers - dressed in Tudor attire - and their birds. The displays take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, from Tuesday 22 July until Friday 29 August, and the price is included with admission.

Children of all ages are invited to dress-up and join the fun of Sudeley's Knight School, every Wednesday & Thursday throughout the summer. The ancient art of sword-fighting, archery and jousting are just some of the knight-themed activities and adventures that lie in store, from Wednesday 23 July until Thursday 28 August, 10.30am-3pm - again, included in the admission price. Successful knights leave the castle grounds knighted and certified!

If you’ve got a hankering for history, head to Sudeley on the weekend of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July, for A King’s Return. Experience the splendour of Tudor England, commemorating 490 years since the historic visit of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to the Castle.

For the weekend, the castle grounds will come alive with costumed historic re-enactors portraying Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Thomas Cromwell, and ladies of the royal court. Walk the very paths they once did, and engage in lively conservation as history comes to life around you.

For anyone interested in open air performance, Wild Arts presents ‘a sparkling and mischievous summer treat’ on Tuesday 19 July. This year’s Summer Opera is an evening of operatic and musical hits, semi-staged by director James Hurley and woven into a new narrative full of intrigue, jealousy, comedy, and true love. Follow the characters as they travel through 75 minutes of music, performed by four singers and a world-class string quintet.

The gardens open for the evening’s performance at 5pm, and the audience is invited to bring a picnic to eat on the Mulberry lawn, before the performance begins at 6.30pm. Standard tickets are £40, which includes parking costs, and there are discounts for groups of six, and tickets for Under 18s are priced at £10.

The following month, The Duke's Theatre Company presents a dynamic reimagining of Shakespeare's classic tragedy, Macbeth. Known for their bold and innovative interpretations, the company brings a contemporary edge to the dark tale of ambition, murder, and madness, offering a strong focus on the psychological unravelling of the protagonists.

The open-air performance takes place on Sunday 10 August, with full price tickets costing £21.68, and discounts for Under 16s and groups available.
