The Great British Food Festival - summer’s ultimate day out - arrives at the magnificent grounds of Compton Verney, from 4-5 July, with a jam-packed line-up of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
Chef demonstrations and talks, street food vendors and live music alongside kids’ cooking classes, foraging talks and paint and sip masterclasses ensure it’s a great day out.
With entertainment throughout the day on the different stages, there’s plenty to see and do with friends and family including perusing the Artisan Market - a great way to discover new producers. Pick up a fresh coffee from Average Joe coffee as you visit the stalls with a great selection of cheeses and gourmet Scotch eggs from Chickie’s Gourmet Eggs.
Grab some delicious street food from traders including Bombay Delicatessen who will be serving up treats such as Samosa Chaat or enjoy an ice cream and sit and watch live music performed throughout the weekend from artists including Limelight Duo and Rock Choir.
A range of masterclasses can be booked for visitors to experience a new activity or revisit a passion. Paint and Sipled by illustrator Izzy Johnston takes you into acrylic painting. Izzy will provide all the materials and guide you through painting a selection of vegetables, offering tips and techniques to bring your painting to life. One you can take home and hang on your kitchen wall at the end.
Louise Avery is a forager and fermentation expert and the founder and creative director of L.A Brewery. Louise will be leading foraging walks at the Great British Food Festival around the scenic estate of Compton Verney.
Joining the roster of chefs this year are two former Masterchef contestants from different series. Sam Kaeokon reached the final and semi-finalist Olayemi Adelekan, known as Yemi will both be cooking up a storm on the Headline stage.
Sam who was born in Thailand creates classic Thai dishes or Thai fusion. He loves the heat of chilli and fragrant herbs. He will be demonstrating how to make a Thai street food dish known as Moo Ping, pork skewers, which are rich in flavour and use ingredients such as coriander seed, coconut milk, garlic, and oyster sauce.
Yemi will be demonstrating Istanbul inspired spiced potatoes on a bed of labneh with flaked salmon. She enjoys using ingredients from Nigeria or the Middle East and wants to encourage people to make her recipes at home.
The family behind the Great British Food Festival are delighted to be bringing the festival to Compton Verney and will be going all out to make it extra special. Danny and Janine Maycock have welcomed over one million visitors to their festivals over the last 16 years.
