The joyful rhythms of calypso bring life and colour to the harsh realities of post-war Britain in this brand-new stage adaptation of Andrea Levy’s multi-award-winning novel of the same name.

Telling a Windrush story about empire and entitlement, the play follows the experiences of Jamaican migrants Hortense and Gilbert. Newly arrived in England, they come into contact with Queenie, a woman defying convention, and her husband Bernard, a reserved and awkward man struggling to come to terms with the changes which are happening around him.
